Job Description
Dunelm have an exciting opportunity for an energetic and talented PoS application specialist to join a growing digital retail tech team.

As an application specialist, you will be responsible for the delivery of our instore digital presence, supporting the roadmap for Java Enterprise Retail Systems on the Enactor platform, a suite of world-class retail applications which span across multiple customer channels. You will be working in a thriving development environment which will allow you to explore and discover new solutions and technologies in a friendly, collaborative and challenging, fast paced environment.

You will work as part of a delivery team and alongside java software engineers. The role requires you to have a broad understanding of in-store technologies and retail, but more importantly an attitude that puts an excellent result as your priority. Your vision and ambition will contribute to shape our Retail Tech Roadmap, influencing our future technical direction and balancing passion with precision to deliver exceptional solutions and services.

You will develop functional specifications, create the product configuration and co-ordinate across teams and third parties to ensure successful and timely delivery.

Responsibilities

The key responsibility is to coordinate and drive the application configuration of the Enactor POS platform.  Other responsibilities include:

  • Workshops and Requirements Analysis:

    Full understanding of scope and participate in the process together with the Delivery Manager and other members of the team. To play an active part in sprint planning, backlog grooming and task estimation

  • Configuration and Application Consultancy:

    Manage delivery of your customer’s needs and have detailed knowledge and documentation of customer requirements.  We will train you in the Enactor Platform, the cutting edge of in-store systems

  • Technical Architecture and Consultancy:

    Develop an awareness of architecture requirements and coordinate interaction between Technical Architects, customer and third parties. Take part in software and architectural design and development activities within a self-organising and cross-functional agile team

  • Integration Design:

    Acquire a good understanding of integration requirements and work with Technical Architects to develop integration designs and plans.

  • Configuration, Development and Delivery Plan:

    Produce, own and execute the plan effectively with the Delivery Manager

  • Functional Specifications:

    Produce and review Functional Specifications

  • Technical Specifications:

    Coordinate with and provide necessary input to the software engineers who are responsible for Technical Specifications

  • Application Development:

    Work closely with the software engineers who manage the development process to ensure timely software delivery

  • Integration Development:

    Work directly with developers assigned to do simple integration development work and bug fixes

  • Testing and QA:

    Review test scripts and the results and schedule bug fixes

  • Support:

    Ensure the team is geared up to take over production support. Proactively help to identify and resolve production and non-production application issues to ensure we have a stable and highly performant platform

  • Quotes and Estimates:

Provide input and review quotes and estimates.

 
Qualifications
Qualifications
  • Essential to have Enactor experience
  • Essential to have extensive and demonstrable experience in timely delivery of complex and high-quality software systems, preferably within the retail sector
  • Good understanding of software development processes through software development
  • First-hand experience in requirements discovery and analysis, working with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Effective leadership, teamwork and inter-personal skills, with both technical and non-technical people
  • Ability to stay focused and goal driven through stressful and high-pressure situations
  • A broad spectrum of retail IT and systems experience
  • Good communication, presentation and negotiation skills
  • (Preferred but not essential) Degree level of education preferably within IT
  • (Preferred but not essential) Relevant professional qualifications / certifications, e.g. IT, Business, Engineering, Project Management
