Pausa coffee shops are one of the leading coffee shop brands in the UK, operating out of 143 Dunelm store locations. We pride ourselves on offering a wide range of delicious food and drink at fantastic value.  

We are now recruiting for a commercially focussed food and drink buyer who is keen to source and develop innovative product ranges that appeal to our customers. The role will be responsible for the buying, supplier relationships, planning and logistical management of all Pausa food and drink categories, ensuring they are delivered to store on time.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • The buying and logistical management of product into store, for all food and drink categories: Sandwiches, Cakes, Drinks (Hot & Cold), Impulse Purchases, Kids Range.
  • Supply base management in accordance with aligned strategies: including range development, cost negotiation, quality standards, ethical sourcing and packaging development. Always focussed on performance, risk and the need to stay competitive.
  • Delivery of key performance targets: sales, profit, availability and waste.
  • Deliver a customer-centric pricing and promotional plan.
  • To identify the most cost-effective sourcing routes into the store.
  • Maintain accurate pricing records and food safety standards records. 
  • Drive Innovation in the range by keeping up to date with product and packaging developments and competitor activities.
  • Plan product launches to meet key seasonal deadlines. This involves clear communication, working closely with suppliers and internal teams (Stores, Store Operations and Marketing) to ensure product launches are smooth and delivered right first-time. 
  • Identify, order and manage the supply of “Promotional” product which drives “freshness” for our customers.
  • Actively “trade” your categories to maximise sales on a weekly basis. To do this you will keep up to date on the performance of products (and competitor activities) taking pricing, promotion, merchandising and marketing actions to drive sales.
  • Understand our core customer and identify ways that will attract new customers.
  • Work alongside the senior leadership team to shape the future strategy for Pausa and then execute the strategic plans from an operational perspective.
