This position is a key senior role within the technology team and the BA chapter. The Principal BA will help grow the capability of the BA chapter, encompassing Dunelm’s entire Business Analysis function. As a Principal BA, you will support the Head of Business Analysis in delivery of the BA strategy across all of the technology teams, focusing on best practises with a view to being a leader in the industry.

As a senior member of the BA chapter, you will work closely with other Principal roles (engineering, Quality and Delivery) to form a strong network and bring the chapters closer together. You will line manage, coach and mentor our business analysts within the chapter as well as focusing on their careers and wellbeing.

What you will do:

  • Inspire and drive, in conjunction with your peers, a coaching and mentoring mindset in the Chapter
  • Advocate excellent career conversations to drive meaningful objectives which support development
  • Encourage and promote the notion of sharing knowledge across the BA Chapter through use of observation and experience, documenting best practice as guidance
  • Embody and shape the Business Analysis strategy in order to deliver our vision for our analysts
  • Professionally operate within the Principal Community by contributing to the culture, ways of working and addressing issues arising from the teams


Skills and responsibilities:

  • Line management and development of BAs in Dunelm Supporting the Head of Business Analysis in the evolution of the BA Chapter at Dunelm
  • Recruitment of Business Analysts, where required to support team requirements
  • Experience in analysis tools and techniques to support both Agile and Waterfall teams
  • Nurture and grow our talent pipeline by identifying opportunities and supporting new analysts in their careers
  • Ensuring the budget for the chapter is utilised appropriately Identify training needs and where appropriate support the procurement of the relevant tools to support growth


Essential experience

  • Significant experience in Business Analysis practices, tools and their implementation in Agile and waterfall environments
  • Empathetic approach to people management
  • Coaching and mentoring of Business Analysts


Desirable experience 

  • Line management experience
  • Building communities/chapters of analysts
  • Exposure to building a successful Business Analyst capability function, supporting a strategic path and vision
