BI Engineer

We are looking for a BI Engineer who has experience working in a fast-paced and demanding environment. You will have strong data modelling experience and know your star schema from your snowflake schema implementing tables and views in data warehouse.

An excellent analytical mind with great attention to detail for solving complex problems delivering business value.

Broad technical skills with high proficiency in SQL, Data Visualisation using BI Tools and preferable experience/ knowledge of AWS infrastructure and architecture with snowflake database

You will have a ‘keep it simple’ mindset, and you will be constantly looking to improve processes across the whole BI function. 

About the Role   

No two days are the same! You will have the opportunity to develop reports and dashboards from a variety of data sources covering all areas of the business – financial, digital, supply chain, customer and market. As a PowerBI expert user, you will work with BI and data engineering team and help ensure we are always applying best practice. You will need to quickly get a thorough understanding of our data architecture, ensuring we exploit the vast quantities of data we have at our disposal. 

You will build good relationships with our Tech / Data teams to ensure we provide accurate, timely and reliable information to our stakeholders.

reporting and analysis platform across the business, and you will play a crucial part in this rollout and ensuring Power BI is adopted across the business.

Key responsibilities 

  • Ensure that projects/developments are delivered on schedule and to specification.
  • Extract, transform and combine data from multiple sources to deliver insightful BI to support business decision making.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the Dunelm data landscape and architecture.
  • Continue the rollout of Power BI as the primary reporting and analysis tool across the business.
  • Work closely with the data team and Tech tribes to ensure the business always has access to accurate and timely data for reporting and analysis purposes.
  • Act as support to a small team of BI developers.

  • Experience of working in a large, fast-paced, demanding business.
  • Experience of working in an agile BI environment.
  • Expert in the use of Microsoft Power BI (2 years +).
  • Knowledge of building data models
  • Competent in the use of DAX, SQL, Power Query and other languages / applications necessary to create dashboards and reports.
  • Willing to learn new languages and technologies.
  • An enthusiastic team player who is able to work independently when required.
  • Good understanding of data architecture and data pipelines.
  • Excellent visualisation skills
  • Ability to play your part in building high perform
