Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Transport Administrator to assist with the collection and co-ordination of the activities of our distribution services out of our Northampton depot, who has the drive and passion to grow and progress with the company. This is a unique opportunity for an organised, passionate and pro-active individual to join one of the UK’s most exciting online retailers, Dunelm.

The role is 40 hours per week, working mainly 12.30 - 21.00 with a need for some flexibility. Saturday working will often be required.

In this role, you will play an integral role in assisting our customers with queries through phone and e-mail. Alongside this, you will also aid customers through the online order process and/or tailoring deliveries to their availability.

You will be working closely with Driver’s, monitoring Driver communications and work-load, liaising effectively with team members, and delivering impeccable customer service.

We are seeking candidates who are very self-motivated and able to work under their own initiative to high quality standards, as well as having the drive and passion to grow and progress with the company. They will have a natural flair for excellent customer service with an appreciation of what it means to deliver accurate information in a timely manner.

It is essential that you can demonstrate the ability to learn, retain and recall product information quickly. You will be required to handle figures and work out basic mathematical equations in Excel.


  • Understand and adhere to company and site health and safety rules
  • Update driver’s hours, holiday, and sickness onto the appropriate records.
  • Ensure all accident forms are completed actioned and filed correctly.
  • Carry out any other clerical duties such as photocopying, writing letters, filing and yard checks as and when required
  • Correct planning of routes using a computer based planning system
  • Work according to the Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) at all times.
  • Adherence to Company health & safety / security policy and procedures
  • To open up & lock up the depot as and when required
  • Respond to Customer Service queries on a daily basis
  • Cover for the transport team in their absence i.e. during breaks/ holidays/ sickness
    Support the distribution operation/office within capability (within reasonable management request)

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • GCSEs or equivalent in Mathematics and English.
