We’ve officially taken over!

We’ve always been told that leaving university with real-life work experience gives us the edge in securing a graduate job. So being on a 12-month Placement (which we started in July) after finishing our 2nd year is the perfect way to get that leg up. We’ve seen previous Placement colleagues that have returned in Graduate roles with Dunelm and we’re sure we can do the same!

When we were on the search for a Placement, we wanted to know what it was really like to work for a particular business as it could influence which career path we ended up following. Few businesses would give us the inside track or open their doors to us.

We remember that experience and have decided to do something about it! We want to give you a behind the scenes look at what it’s really like to be on a Placement at Dunelm by taking over dunelm_insiders on Instagram and Dunelm’s Linkedin. Give us a follow for all the latest updates.

What Dunelm offer

Putting the theory we've learned on our degree courses in to real work situations can only be seen as a positive. The plan for the next 12 months is to gain hands-on experience in our chosen business area and get involved in a few business projects. We’ve already got to know different people and departments and taken advantage of in-house training courses with our manager’s support. We’re set for an intense year, but one that will develop our technical, business and personal skills to kick off a successful career after University.

The highlight of my year...

Watch Dean explain how he’s been able to make a big impact in a short space of time.

Dean came to Dunelm for a year’s work experience during his studies at Loughborough University. He played a vital role in Dunelm’s smooth transition to the new website along with a whole host of other projects. Along the way he’s had training in leadership and other skills he can take forward to his future career. He hopes to return to Dunelm when he graduates.

"y applying the knowledge gained at uni to the workplace and being hungry to learn, I’ve been able to make a real contribution to the business."
